Midfielder Matt Richards says he hopes to win over his detractors by simply getting on with his job and helping the Blues climb the league. Richards has become the latest in a long line of Town players to face the wrath of the boo boys.

The 21-year-old told the club site: "I know some of the supporters have not been happy with my performances and have given me some stick, but they pay a lot of money to watch football and are entitled to their opinions.

"I've got to work hard and show them I'm a good player and, hopefully, they will be cheering me soon.

"I'm certainly not going to worry about the criticism I've had. I'll just get on with my job of helping the team move up the table."

Richards returned to the starting line-up for the games with Preston and Southend, but could face renewed competition for his place with Gavin Williams close to a return.

TWTD reported a fortnight ago that Williams was ahead of schedule and in light training, but now the Welshman is involved in first team sessions. The former Yeovil and West Ham man underwent a hernia operation at the beginning of the month.
