Town manager Jim Magilton is continuing his search for loan players ahead of Sunday's home game with Luton. The Northern Irishman has spoken to virtually every Premiership boss as he looks to add to his squad.

Magilton is hopeful he will have an extra body to call upon for the Hatters game: “As things stand right now, there is a possibility that we will have someone in the next few days, but he is due to play this week and then decide whether or not he'll be joining us.”

The Town boss has also revealed that Crewe's David Vaughan wasn't the only player the Blues' representative at Gresty Road was interested in on Saturday. Striker Luke Varney was also being looked at, but Magilton says the 24-year-old, who has scored six goals this season, and his Crewe colleague are simply amongst the players his scouting staff are monitoring.

The six yellow cards at Southend on Saturday cost the Blues £5,000 with the Football League imposing an automatic fine which would be doubled should they reach the same tally in a single game again.

Magilton says he is annoyed at some of the silly cautions this season: "I'm disappointed at the amount of stupid bookings we have picked up and that can't be allowed to continue."

The official Football League statistics for the Championship show Town to be the eighth worst offenders on fouls conceded (178, league matches only), but having received the joint-second most yellow cards, 37 along with Leeds behind West Brom's 38 (Championship and Carling Cup).

Alan Lee is fifth in the player fouls committed league with 31, but having picked up only one yellow card.
