Town are reported to be one of a number of clubs watching Falkirk attacking midfielder or striker Alan Gow. The 24-year-old is also interesting other English sides including Bristol City, however it is La Liga club Levante who are apparently leading the chase for his signature.

Gow is out of contract at the end of the season and can talk to other clubs from January. A proposed new deal with Falkirk falls well short of the player's expectations and he looks likely to be leaving the Bairns in the summer.

Born in Glasgow, Gow was previously linked with the Blues in January 2005 during his time with Airdrie, but then boss Joe Royle denied that he was a target.

Gow has scored seven goals in 57 games for Falkirk, having netted 26 times in 98 matches for Airdrie.

Meanwhile, Darren Currie's switch to Coventry is still dependent on Dele Adebola's move away from the Ricoh Arena. Town previously showed interest in the striker but are not thought to be joining Leeds in targeting the Nigerian ahead of Thursday's emergency loan deadline.

Sky Blues boss Micky Adams says Adebola is keen on a loan spell: "A few clubs have inquired about Dele, who would like to get more games and that might be a good idea for him.

"But he will only go out if Stern John is fit, which we hope he will be for Saturday, so I have to assess the situation.

"Ideally, I wouldn't want to let anyone go but I have a budget and I am loathe to go outside it."

Adams says Currie can add creativity to his side: "We lack a bit of width at times and need to get crosses into the box. That is paramount and if that is the way I feel we have to go then I may have to sacrifice someone."

Elsewhere, Charlton chief executive Peter Varney says that contrary to recent newspaper reports Darren Bent is not leaving the Addicks in January: "Darren signed a new, improved four-year deal in the summer and we have no intention of selling him.

"He's a key part of our side and of our hopes of staying up. There have been no enquiries from Manchester United or anyone else for that matter. It's just paper talk - pure speculation."

When Bent does eventually leave the Valley, the Blues will receive 20% of the profit Charlton make on the £2.6 million they have so far paid for the England striker.
