Finnish central defender Ari Nyman has been asked back to Portman Road for a second trial in the new year. The Inter Turku player spent last week with the Blues and impressed enough to offered a another spell in which Town hope to watch him in a game situation.

In the meantime Nyman, 22, is set for trials with Swiss club FC Luzern and Norwegians VÃ¥lerenga, where he previously spent time earlier this month.

Nyman has played for his nation's senior side on 13 occasions and their U21s 20 times. His most recent full cap came a fortnight ago when Finland defeated Armenia 1-0 in Helsinki.

The 6ft 1in tall centre-half came through the youth system at Inter Turku before signing a professional contract in 2000. Since then he has made 125 appearances and has scored three goals.

Meanwhile, former Blue Vemund Brekke Skard has been offered the chance to rejoin his old club Brumunddal in January. Since Skard's previous spell Brumunddal have been relegated to the fourth tier of Norwegian football.
