Currie to Derby?
Currie to Derby?
Thursday, 1st Feb 2007 09:45

Midfielder Darren Currie is reported to be a surprise target of Championship leaders Derby County. The 32-year-old failed to complete a move to either Millwall or Brighton during the transfer window, but could still leave on an emergency loan with Rams boss Billy Davies claimed to be interested.

Town wanted a fee initially quoted at £70,000 for the winger, but were likely to have been willing to accept a lower bid nearer the end of the window.

Currie can still leave on the emergency loan provision which starts in a week's time. The Blues could still ask a fee, although they may just be happy to see someone else pay the former Barnet and Wycombe man's wages until his contract is up in the summer.

Boss Jim Magilton is also understood to be keen on bringing in a further loan outside the transfer window with reports claiming the Blues were close to a short-term signing prior to last night's deadline.
