U18s Thrash Birmingham Monday, 26th Mar 2007 00:50 Town's U18s hammered Birmingham City 6-1 at Playford Road on Saturday morning. Jordan Rhodes scored twice (one penalty), while Ian Nimmo also netted from the spot and Jack Ainsley, Kieran Leabon and Ed Upson added the other four goals. Birmingham were reduced to 10 men in a first half which ended 2-1 before the Blues made hay in the second period. Sub Upson completed the scoring by chipping the Birmingham keeper from the halfway line. Meanwhile, the U16s lost 3-1 to the same opposition, Craig Calver netting for the Blues. Town fielded trialist Patrick Kinsella in goal. The 16-year-old, who was also named as a sub for the U18s, is currently with Portsmouth.
