No Appeal From Jim
No Appeal From Jim
Thursday, 29th Mar 2007 18:54

Boss Jim Magilton has decided not to appeal against the FA charge he received after the Preston game earlier in the month. Magilton was charged under FA Rule E3 — abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official, having been sent to the stands by Mark Clattenburg late on in the game at Deepdale on March 13th.

The Town manager reacted angrily to Clattenburg adding only three minutes of injury time at the end of a second half in which there had been several stoppages.

Magilton made his thoughts known to the official as Preston prepared to take a late freekick close to the technical area and was sent to the unused terrace behind the dugouts.

After the game, Magilton commented: "Where did he get three minutes from at the end? We had three subs and two injuries and he's supposed to be the rising star."

Magilton had until April 4th to request a personal hearing, but instead will write a letter of apology to the FA. The Town boss is likely to receive a fine and/or a touchline ban.
