Hreidarsson Test Tomorrow
Hreidarsson Test Tomorrow
Friday, 2nd Mar 2001 13:19

Town injury worry Hermann Hreidarsson came through this morning's training session and may be OK for Sunday's game with Bradford. The centre-half has been missing after suffering a hamstring problem against Leeds.

Town manager George Burley said of Hreidarsson: "We'll see what he's like tomorrow."

Martijn Reuser and Keith Branagan seem to be over the flu bug they have been suffering from and both trained this morning.

Town will definitely be without Gary Croft, Richard Naylor, John Scales and Marcus Stewart. Croft and Scales are on the mend after a medial ligament problem and a hamstring problem respectively. See other story for more information on Richard Naylor.

Town striker Richard Naylor is to see another specialist for his ongoing knee problems. It is not thought that his problems are career-threatening, but he and the club are keen to get his injury problems solved once and for all.

A recent scan showed that he could need operations similar to the ones he lad last summer. However, the club are keen to avoid surgery and see his operations as a short-term measure which get rid of the symptoms and not the underlying cause of his problems.

Last week Naylor saw Mark Bender, a New Zealand biochemist, and an expert on injuries of the type Naylor has suffered from. It seems that his problems are in the main biomechanical. His running style, posture and leg length (one is longer than the other) all contribute to his problems.

Naylor will see another specialist next week to assess where he goes from here.

class="storytext">Amir Karic is to go on a month's loan to Crystal Palace. Karic joined Town earlier in the season from Slovenian club Maribor. Despite hard work in training he is yet to feature in a Premiership match.

He has been a regular in the reserves, but hasn't really looked much like breaking through, although he has appeared as a sub in three Worthington Cup matches. Town fans will hope that he will do as well at Selhurst Park as a previous loan left-back: Arsenal's Ashley Cole.
