Burley Hopes for Signings

Town manager George Burley is still looking to bring in players before the deadline on March 22nd. The Town manager is hopeful that the elusive attacking midfielder and possibly others will be brought on board before the new season.

The Town manager said: "It's an ongoing situation. We are looking at players to strengthen the squad but we have been frustrated in recent months either because of transfer fees, wages or the fact that some clubs don't want to sell".

Town have been linked with a whole host of players in recent months and Burley, Colin Suggett, Romeo Zondervan and Simon Hunt have all taken in innumerable matches. Burley was reported as being at the France-Germany game the other night, but no specific target has been identified from this game.

Town's Under-17 Academy team could win their League tomorrow if they are the victors in their game with Southampton (Bent Lane, 10am KO).

They beat nearest rivals Spurs 3-1 last weekend and with just four games remaining are eleven points in front on 43 points from 20 matches. They also notched up ten straight wins between October and February, a pretty decent feat at any level.

Many of the side are also stalwarts of the Youth Cup side which has done so well to reach the quarter-finals.

The U19s are playing Charlton at home in their game this afternoon.
