Town's reserves ended their league campaign with a 5-0 victory over Northampton at Portman Road. Danny Haynes scored twice, while Billy Clarke, Matt Richards and George O'Callaghan were also on the scoresheet.

Clarke put the Blues in front in the seventh minute, prodding home from close in after good work from Haynes and O'Callaghan.

Haynes added the second on 17 from a Scott Barron cross and then the third, again from a ball sent in by the left-back after a clever pass from the impressive Sammy Moore.

Jordan Rhodes replaced Haynes at the break with the striker appearing to have suffered a neck injury in the latter stages of the first half.

Matt Richards notched the fourth with 15 minutes remaining, then a couple of minutes later O'Callaghan completed the scoring with a shot from the edge of the area.

The reserves, who had already secured the Pontin's Holidays Football Combination League East Division title, are still to take on the winners of the Central Division, Southampton or Brighton, in a play-off on a date yet to be set.

Reserves: Plummer, Synnott, Barron, Moore, Miller, Casement, Richards, Trotter, Clarke (Leabon 70), Haynes (Rhodes 46), O'Callaghan (Robinson 85). Att: 305.
