Lee Talks Continue
Wednesday, 25th Jul 2007 09:41

Town and Hull City are continuing to negotiate regarding Alan Lee's proposed move to the KC Stadium. Reports in Yorkshire claim the Blues may have reduced their valuation of the 28-year-old.

Hull's £600,000 offer for Lee was turned down by Town almost a fortnight ago, but it's understood that talks have been ongoing. The Blues recently offered the Republic of Ireland international a new deal, but chairman David Sheepshanks said the former Cardiff man had turned down Town's initial offer.

The Tigers are understood to be ready to offer Lee a three-year deal worth £8,000-a-week should the clubs agree a fee.

Hull are also showing interest in Town loan target Andy Carroll. The Blues made a loan enquiry regarding the 18-year-old earlier in the summer and now Hull boss Phil Brown says he asked about the 6ft 3in tall striker: "I've spoken to Sam on two or three occasions and the conversations we've had have been very positive towards him maybe coming out on loan.

"However, Sam's not finished his own shopping yet and until he does that, it would be remiss of me to discuss the future of one of his players."

Meanwhile, Town boss Jim Magilton has confirmed TWTD Message Board rumours claiming that he had targeted Plymouth's David Norris: “I spoke to Ian Holloway about Norris but was rebuffed. It went to board level, but Plymouth made it clear he was not for sale, so that is the end of it for now.”

Norris, 26, started his career at Boston but moved on to Bolton for £50,000 in 2000. After failing to make a breakthough at the Reebok Stadium, Norris returned to York Street on loan, before moving to Hull for a similar spell.

The Peterborough-born player's career really took off after his £25,000 switch to Plymouth in 2002, featuring both on the right and in the centre of midfield.

Norris has made 194 starts and 11 sub appearances for the Pilgrims, scoring 22 times. He has two years left on his current deal.

Meanwhile, former Town reserve Ashley Nicholls is reported to be close to joining Boston United on a free transfer after leaving Grays Athletic.
