Midfielder Sammy Moore marked his first appearance for Brentford with a 30-yard screamer in a 6-1 home defeat to Reading. Moore completed his one-month loan move to the Bees earlier today.

The 19-year-old's stunner equalised an early Shane Long goal, but the game was largely one-way traffic.

Moore played the full 90 minutes, while ex-Town academy striker Alan Connell was also in the Brentford line-up, having joined them from Hereford earlier in the summer.

Meanwhile, former loanee and possible summer target Matt Bates will undergo a scan on the injury he picked up in his first comeback game at Darlington on Tuesday.

Bates twisted awkwardly and hurt his knee, but not the same knee which cut short his spell with the Blues last season. Boro boss Gareth Southgate has admitted that the latest injury is "worrying".
