Town Agents' Fees Nil
Thursday, 26th Jul 2007 10:11

Town were one of three Championship teams to spend nothing on agents' fees during the first six months of 2007. Overall, spending on agents in the Football League was down 25% on the same period last year, to £2.44 million.

Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney welcomed the findings of the latest report: "I am encouraged that Football League clubs have spent less money on agents' fees over the last six months and I hope this pattern continues.

"The League remains the only body of clubs that have committed to publishing their spending on agents' fees. By doing so, we are taking an admirable lead in terms of good governance in football."

Town involved agents in 11 transactions (four new registrations and transfers, three cancelled contracts and four loans) with the agents paid by the players involved in each case. Colchester United and Crystal Palace were the other Championship clubs not to pay agents a penny.

In the first six months of the 2006/07 season the Blues spent £5,000 on agents' fees. The full report can be viewed here.
