Jeffers Signs for Owls
Thursday, 9th Aug 2007 15:31

Former Town loanee Franny Jeffers has completed his move from Blackburn Rovers to Sheffield Wednesday. The man described as his first priority by Jim Magilton earlier in the summer goes straight into the squad facing the Blues on Saturday.

TWTD first broke the news of Jeffers's move to South Yorkshire on Monday morning with an undisclosed fee, believed to be £700,000, agreed between the clubs yesterday.

Owls boss Brian Laws says he is pleased to land his target: "I am delighted to have secured a player of Francis Jeffers's calibre here at Hillsborough.

"Francis has spent most of his career in the Premier League because of the quality that he possesses and I believe he can be a regular scorer with us in the Championship.

"We have been looking to secure a top quality striker over the summer and we certainly have that now going into the new season, which is a really big boost for Sheffield Wednesday."

Town's move for Jeffers collapsed earlier in the summer due to the striker's £10,000-a-week wage demands, the Blues having agreed a fee with Blackburn.

Jeffers has signed a three-year deal at Hillsborough.
