Navas Signs for Racing Thursday, 30th Aug 2007 15:09 Racing Santander have announced that they have completed the signing of former Town target César Navas. The Blues' attempts to sign the 27-year-old collapsed yesterday due to a failure to agree personal terms, with La Liga side Racing in a position to offer Navas a deal worth significantly more than Town. Racing agreed to pay Málaga £200,000 for the central defender last night, the same fee which Town were due to pay the Segunda División side for the Madrid-born defender. Navas passed a medical this morning, despite being a month away from action with the broken metatarsal he suffered while on trial with the Blues. Earlier, the ex-Gimnà stic de Tarragona loanee explained his decision to join Racing ahead of Town: "I have decided to go to Racing because it was the best offer. To play in the Primera División is the best showcase of the world." Navas has signed a two-year contract with Racing with an option for a third season.
