Academy striker Paul Murphy won his fifth Republic of Ireland U17 cap as his side completed their European Championship first qualifying phase mini-group fixtures with a 1-0 victory over Slovenia. Murphy came on as a 61st minute substitute.

The first-year scholar was left out of the starting line-up after picking up a knock in Sunday's victory over Denmark.

Ireland won their group and are through to the next phase of qualifying after a 100% record in the mini-group games which they hosted. The elite qualifying phase groups will be drawn in November with the matches played next spring. The finals themselves will be played in Antalya, Turkey next May.
