Keeper Sela on Trial
Keeper Sela on Trial
Monday, 22nd Oct 2007 23:04

German keeper Jonas Sela has joined the Blues on a week's trial. The 23-year-old is a free agent having left Mainz over the summer after their relegation from the Bundesliga.

Sela played youth football with FC Köln, TV Herkenrath, SSG Bergisch Gladbach and RS 19 Waldbröl before joining Arminia Bielefeld in 2003 where he played for their reserves.

A year later the Bensburg-born stopper moved to Fortuna Köln and in the summer of 2005 he made his switch to Mainz, where he spent two seasons but made only one seven-minute Bundesliga substitute appearance.

The 6ft 1in tall keeper has been recommended by former England striker Tony Woodcock, who is now an agent in Germany and who represented former Blue Danny Sonner during his time at Portman Road.

Sela has been with the squad since the start of the week and will remain at Playford Road until the weekend.
