Skipper Jason De Vos has blasted the Canada Soccer Association for being “a complete and utter shambles”. De Vos, a former captain of his national side, says he's even tempted to try sort the situation out himself once his playing career is over.

De Vos told TWTD in an interview for issue 90 of the fanzine: “It's a shambles, let's make no bones about it, it's a complete and utter shambles. There was no manager for a year and the Canada Soccer Association is run by people who know nothing about football. They've never played the game and they've never been involved in the game in a professional capacity. It is like the blind leading the blind, a complete shambles. Pull no punches, that's the way it is.

“A part of me would love to go back to Canada one day and get involved with the Association and sort it out because as a player I felt the frustration and as a captain I felt the frustration of trying to qualify.

”We had a qualification game in Edmonton, a home game against Trinidad and Tobago, and I walked on the pitch and there was a reggae band playing reggae music to make them feel at home. Can you imagine England playing Italy in England and having an opera singer on the pitch before the game to make the Italians feel at home? It wouldn't happen.

“We'd go to places like Mexico and we'd play at 12 o'clock in the afternoon when it's as hot as possible to make us as uncomfortable as possible. For some reason we feel the necessity to be as hospitable to everyone, to be nice. If it was the hospitality World Cup, we'd win every year! But it's not.”

De Vos talks more about Canada, Town's topsy-turvy season, the summer surgery which he says has added years to his career, some of the club's young prospects and much, much more in the interview. TWTD's sellers will be found around the ground from 1pm on Saturday, by Sir Alf, Planet Blue and the Portman Road entrance to the Greene King Stand.

Alternatively, if you can't make the game, fans anywhere in the world can purchase a single copy or six-issue subscription online here.
