Town to Face Managerless Southampton

It will be a managerless Saints who face Town on Monday with the news this morning that Glenn Hoddle has quit the Dell to join Spurs. The ex-England manager was in talks with Spurs yesterday and it seem an agreement was come to with their new owners ENIC.

Southampton's official website announced the news with a statement from chairman Rupert Lowe: "At 10pm yesterday I received a phone call from Glenn saying he wished to end his employment at Southampton with immediate effect. He is joining Tottenham Hotspur as their manager."

The Southampton chairman, who was desperate to keep Hoddle, added: "I was disappointed that Glenn Hoddle has chosen to turn his back on the club that gave him the chance to return to top-flight management. I'm saddened that Glenn's chosen to leave the team with a European place in sight and a new stadium close to completion. But I do not propose to hold him against his evident will."

The last mail, obviously should have read Bobby Robson. Need new fingers.
