David Sheepshanks has revealed that the Blues have agreed terms with a mystery player who is expected to sign before the transfer window closes on Thursday. The new man is neither Leicester's Gareth McAuley nor Plymouth's David Norris, although the chairman confirmed that the Blues have increased their offer for Norris.

Speaking after this evening's AGM, Sheepshanks said: “We've permission to negotiate with the player and we've agreed terms with him, and we think we've agreed terms with the club because we've offered what they've asked for.

”It was only done this evening and it's never completely done until you have confirmation back from the other club.”

TWTD understands that the mystery signing is an international player who isn't amongst the many names mentioned in connection with the Blues in recent weeks.

Sheepshanks also confirmed that the Blues had increased their bid for boss Jim Magilton's number one target David Norris: “We have improved our offer, yes.

“David Norris is a player we really want, but we're not going to wait forever and there are other irons in the fire.”

That offer is likely to be nearer to the £2 million mark targeted by Plymouth, the Blues' second bid, which was refused last week, having been £1.75 million plus add-ons.

Earlier today, Norris was withdrawn from the Argyle squad which flew east ahead of Tuesday's game at Portman Road.
