North Stand Fans Are Moving
North Stand Fans Are Moving
Friday, 30th Mar 2001 09:08

Town announced at a Supporters' Club function last night that North Stand supporters will be moving to the South Stand for a brief period next season. Although this had been mooted before there was a suggestion recently that the lower tier of the new North might be finished by the season's beginning.

Town have requested that their first fixture of the new season be an away one so as to give as long as possible in the summer to get work done, but it seems this will still not leave enough time.

North Standers will find themselves at the other end of the ground until October while the stand is completed. Apparently the club is having problems getting the North Stand design passed by the council with concerns expressed over lorries on Sir Alf Ramsey Way hitting the overhang and light blockage to local residents.

The club also said that season ticket prices will be available a week on Monday, contrary to previous reports.

Town's David Rose has commented on Liverpool's decision to complain over the date of the Town game. The Blues' secretary was understandably unimpressed with Liverpool's overtures to the Premier League which may see the game pushed back to May.

Rose said: "After talks with the Premiership, as far as the club is concerned there will be no change to that date."

We have, however, seen games move at short notice before haven't we?

The Town Supporters' Club annual bash, a regular feature of the end of the season, has been postponed. The Man City Sky game on May 7th is the day after the scheduled date and the club doesn't allow players to attend functions the day before games.

It will now take place at the beginning of next season or during pre-season.

Town's U17 Academy side are off to Birmingham tomorrow to play their re-arranged game against the St Andrew's side (KO noon). They also have another re-arranged game on Monday at Charlton (KO 7pm).
