Grays Athletic 2-4 Reserves

Town's reserves continued their 100% league record with a 4-2 victory at Grays Athletic on Wednesday evening. Jordan Rhodes scored twice, while Danny Haynes and Liam Trotter were also on the scoresheet.

Rhodes put the Blues ahead on 15, but Grays hit back via a penalty in the 34th minute after a foul by Michael Synnott.

Liam Trotter put the Blues back in front on 66, then Danny Haynes added to the lead seven minutes later.

Reserves debutant Nick Colgan kicked the ball straight to a Grays attacker to gift the home side their second with six minutes left on the clock, but Rhodes restored the Blues' two-goal lead injury time.

The Blues played fairly well against a relatively strong Grays side which included former Town academy player Jack Haverson. Gavin Williams and Jai Reason were probably the best performers on a bumpy pitch which made a passing game difficult.

Notably alongside academy coach Steve Greaves on the bench was veteran defender Fabian Wilnis, while first team coach Bryan Klug was sat in the stand.

The victory increases Town's lead at the top of the Pontin's Holidays Football Combination League East Division to six points, having won all 10 of their games. Norwich City are in second place having played four more matches than the Blues.

Reserves: Colgan, Synnott, Fenn, Watson, Smith, G Williams (Clemo 80), Reason, Trotter, Upson, Rhodes, Haynes (Ainsley 80). Unused: Ward, Murphy.
