Academy striker Paul Murphy scored one and set up two as the Republic of Ireland U17s thrashed Finland 6-1 in Kilkenny on Thursday evening.

Murphy sent in the crosses which led to the second and third goals then nodded home the fifth himself as the Irish went on the rampage. The 16-year-old frontman or winger was replaced after 52 minutes.

The game was the second of two friendlies against the Finns — Murphy scored once in a 3-0 victory in the first on Tuesday - which were arranged as preparation for the upcoming UEFA Championship elite qualifiers which will be played in March.
