Town have released academy pair Ollie Fenn and Andy Plummer. Defender Fenn has become the first Blues player to link up with Eircom League side Galway United under the new link between the clubs.

The 19-year-old impressed the Tribesmen during the behind-closed-doors friendly at Playford Road last week and is on now on trial with the Irish side.

Galway United spent last week training at Playford Road as part of their preparations for their season which runs through the summer. Manager Tony Cousins is a close friend of Town boss Jim Magilton, the pair having started their careers together at Liverpool.

Both managers subsequently expressed their intention to form a link which would see young Town players spend time in Ireland and the Blues get first refusal on any promising youngsters produced by Galway.

Last season Fenn won the Harold Smith Award for the Most Promising Academy Player but has been unable to push on this year, having missed most of pre-season due to a bout of shingles.

Keeper Plummer, 18, will join Blue Square Premier side Oxford United on trial next week.
