Full-back David Wright says he is looking forward to boss Jim Magilton adding to his squad over the summer. The former Wigan and Crewe man feels the Town side has progressed since he signed in January 2007.

Wright told the club site: "I'm sure the gaffer will be bringing in new players over the next month or two. He has a few pennies to spend now with the Marcus Evans investment and he will be looking at some quality players.

"The squad has really moved on from when I first arrived and the results are there to see on the pitch.

"We were one point from the play-offs and I'm sure the gaffer is looking for that extra class to come in and help take us on to the next level."

Meanwhile, reports in Belfast again claim the Blues are in competition with QPR, managed by Jim Magilton's best friend Iain Dowie, for the signature of Leicester's Northern Ireland international central defender Gareth McAuley.

The Foxes are said to want £1.5 million for the former Lincoln man, whose Walkers Stadium exit looks inevitable despite him signing a new deal earlier in the year, and may be prepared to do a deal early in the close season to avoid paying his wages over the summer.
