Wright Move Closer

TWTD understands that Richard Wright's return to the Blues edges ever closer and that the 30-year-old could be back at Portman Road as soon as next week. Earlier in the week, boss Jim Magilton revealed that he had made an enquiry to West Ham regarding the former Arsenal stopper.

Wright almost joined the Blues last summer but the club are understood to have stalled on completing the deal until the keeper's representatives had found a new side for Lewis Price, who has the same agent. Before Price's switch to Derby had been completed, and with the new season approaching fast, West Ham came in and signed Wright from Everton.

Town are likely to have to pay a six-figure fee to the Hammers for the twice-capped England keeper, who was also interesting former loan club Southampton.

TWTD first reported that Wright could be a summer Town target back in March when former keeper-coach Andy Rhodes was spotted attending a West Ham reserves game.

There is nothing new on the man expected to succeed Rhodes in that role. Malcolm Webster was due back at Southampton yesterday with his departure from the south coast club widely expected.
