Departing midfielder Gavin Williams has thanked the club and the fans for helping him to enjoy his time at Portman Road. The Welshman completed a £100,000 move to Bristol City earlier today after two-and-a-half years with the Blues.

Williams told the club site: "I want to say thanks to Jim, Bryan Klug and the rest of the staff for their help in my time at Ipswich and wish them all the best for the future.

"I had some good times at the club and there are some great lads there in the dressing room. The supporters were good to me as well and I'd like to thank them for their backing.

"It's a good move for me, though, going to Bristol. It takes me closer to my family in Wales and that is very important to me and it also gives me a chance to work with Gary Johnson again, who I know well [from working with him at Yeovil].

"I'm looking forward to my time at Bristol but I want to wish every success to Ipswich."
