McGreal Set for Portman Road Return
McGreal Set for Portman Road Return

Former Blue John McGreal is set to be named Town's new reserve team coach, according to various reports this morning. The 36-year-old, who spent Saturday winning the Mersey Masters with Tranmere, left the Blues for Burnley in 2004 after five years at the club.

McGreal returned to the area after being released by the Clarets in the summer of 2007, failing to win a contract with Colchester after a trial.

The Liverpudlian, a team-mate of boss Jim Magilton during his time with the Blues, is replacing Steve Greaves, who looked after the second string last season.

McGreal recently attained his UEFA B Licence at Keele University and was occasionally involved in coaching sessions at Portman Road last season.
