Jim: Stay Patient on Transfers

Boss Jim Magilton says fans will have to be patient as they wait for further summer signings. Today, July 1st, is traditionally a day when clubs announce new Bosman recruits but no new additions are due to be unveiled at Portman Road.

Magilton said: "We are continuing our search, but it is a case of making sure we sign the right player for Ipswich Town. It will pay to be patient.”

Talks continue regarding Richard Wright's proposed return to Portman Road with Magilton confirming that an enquiry had been made last week.

Town are also looking to add to their coaching ranks with John McGreal set to come in as reserve team boss and a goalkeeper-coach set to be named.

Malcolm Webster, currently with Southampton, has been widely tipped for the job, however, TWTD understands that former youth keeper James Hollman is set to beat the former incumbent to the role vacated by Andy Rhodes last month.

Hollman was a Town youth player alongside Richard Wright, before moving into non-league football, while also coaching at the Town academy alongside Bryan Klug, now the Blues' first team coach and working with keepers like Lewis Price.

Hollman subsequently moved on Norwich where he spent seven years, having been recruited by Sammy Morgan, then with the Canaries, but now the education officer at Town's academy.

Elsewhere, Donegal Celtic assistant first team coach Martin McKiernan says his side are itching to take on the Blues when Town face them in Belfast on Thursday 17th July: "There's real excitement among the players and fans about playing Ipswich Town.

"They are a big club and Jim has promised to bring over his first team squad. After so much disappointment recently it's great for a club as big as Ipswich to give us their support.”
