TWTD understands that former Fulham left-back Adam Green spent last week on trial with the Blues. The 23-year-old was released by the Cottagers in the summer of 2006 and has since played for Grays Athletic and Woking in the Blue Square Premier.

Much was expected of the 5ft 11in tall full-back as he progressed through Fulham's youth set-up and into their first team, then-academy director Steve Kean at one time describing him as "the best left-back for his age in the country”.

However, just eight Premier League appearances followed and the Hillingdon-born player spent time on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, Bournemouth and Bristol City before being released by Chris Coleman.

After departing Craven Cottage, Green drifted into non-league football with Grays, moving on to Woking in January 2007 with whom he made 43 starts and four sub appearances.

Green will be well-known to first team coach Bryan Klug, who will have watched him progress through the Fulham youth system.

Town have previously looked at other players who have left Premier League clubs to drop into the lower divisions and non-league. Just over a year ago, another ex-Fulham youngster, winger Sean Doherty, then with Accrington Stanley, had a similar spell at Portman Road.
