Relegated Bundesliga side Nuremberg have turned down Town's £2.5 million bid for striker Angelos Charisteas, according to reports in the Greek press this morning. News that the Blues are keen to add the 28-year-old to their strike force first broke on Thursday evening.

Various Greek websites are reporting that the bid of £2.5 million wasn't enough to tempt the German club to sell, while one source claims the player would not be interested in joining the Blues anyway.

No other club is believed to have shown interest in the Euro 2004 winner and Nuremberg are hopeful that Charisteas will remain with them as they look to win promotion back to the Bundesliga next season.
