Coventry Deny Ticket Return
Coventry Deny Ticket Return

Coventry City have denied Town's claim that they have returned 300 tickets for tomorrow's game. Town announced yesterday that 300 seats had been returned by the Midlands club in Block E of the Cobbold Stand, an area usually set aside for away supporters after the Sky Blues had originally asked for the full allocation.

However, a Coventry spokesperson told their official website: "That’s definitely news to me. I’ve got the invoice in front of me and we received an allocation of 1,431. We then sold 1,431 tickets. Nothing was returned to Portman Road. If we’d had any more tickets, they would have been quickly sold-out, because the demand has been massive. We sold what we were given."

Recent away attendances at Portman Road have been 1,842 for Everton, 1,985 for Leeds, while Arsenal, Manchester United, Sunderland, Tottenham and Charlton have all brought more than 2,000 fans to Town.

Town are required to give away fans around the 2,000 seat mark, roughly 10% of the ground. We suspect there has been some failure in communication with the losers Coventry fans and the winners the extra 300 Town fans who will get to see tomorrow's game.
