Richards Move Could Be Permanent

Matt Richards says he's pleased to be back at Brighton on another loan spell. The 23-year-old, who has a year left on his Town contract, moved back to the Withdean Stadium yesterday after spending much of last season with the Seagulls.

Richards had doubts whether he would be back in Sussex after a change in manager at the Albion: "Dean Wilkins said he would like to sort something out and maybe for me to sign here, but obviously it didn't work out and he left.

"Up until last week or so I hadn't heard anything. I was still at Ipswich. There have been a lot of changes here, so I didn't really expect anything to happen but it was nice to get the call and come down here again.

"The change of manager was a bit of a surprise, but that's what happens in football.

"Micky Adams is a good manager, he is very experienced and he knows what he's doing so, hopefully, he can improve the team and push us into the Championship.

"I'm definitely pleased to be back. I enjoyed it here last year. Hopefully, we can improve and make the play-offs or go up automatically.”

New manager Adams wants to look at Richards during his latest loan spell, which is up in January, with a view to making the move permanent.
