Garvan in No Hurry But Happy
Garvan in No Hurry But Happy

Midfielder Owen Garvan says he is in no hurry to have his future resolved. The Irishman is still to sign a new deal with Town, his representatives having asked for some amendments to the terms offered at the end of last season aimed at keeping the 20-year-old at Portman Road until 2011.

Garvan says the club have not yet responded to changes he and his representatives requested: "I'm just waiting for the club to get back to me.

”I'm happy here at the moment. I have a year left on my contract, so I'm not in a great rush.”

The Irish U21 international has been mentioned in connection with Premier League sides including Middlesbrough, Everton and Wigan over the summer, while Championship Birmingham denied reports linking them with the Dubliner last week.

Town are likely to be keen to secure Garvan's signature sooner rather than later as his transfer value will drop the nearer he gets to the end of his contract. Next summer, if no new deal is agreed, the Blues would receive compensation should Garvan move on as he is under-23, but at a level likely to be much lower than the fee which would be achieved this summer.

Meanwhile, former Town reserves captain Justin Miller has joined Blue Square South side Chelmsford City from Leyton Orient.

Elsewhere, at the Dana Cup in Denmark, Town's U15s drew 1-1 with Norwegians Runar IL yesterday to win their group. They face Georgian side 35 Football School today as they move into the knock-out stages.
