Burley Targeting British Based Players

Town manager George Burley has revealed that he will be targeting English based players as he seeks to strengthen his side ahead of Town's Euro push next season. The Town manager says he isn't going to change his philosophy despite Town's increased standing in the world of football.

The Town manager said: "We have all seen some clubs make big mistakes with some of their signings. I shall be checking the home market first for suitable players. After that I shall be looking abroad."

Town have already been linked with plenty of players over the last three months or so, both from inside the English and Scottish Leagues as well as from abroad. Home-based players include Matthew Upson (Arsenal), Robert Earnshaw (Cardiff), Bobby Zamora (Brighton), Eidur Gudjohnsen (Chelsea), Jason Koumas (Tranmere), Dean Ashton (Crewe), Mark Kerr (Falkirk), Gavin Rae (Dundee) and Jamie Tolley (Shrewsbury).

Non-British based players like Bob Peeters (Vitesse Arnhem), Frank Strasser (Kaiserslautern), Edvin Murati (Lille), Gert Verheyen (Club Brugge), several other Belgians and the other players mentioned earlier today are amongst the names linked with Town recently.
