Money Will Be Available - Sheepshanks

Town chairman David Sheepshanks has said that George Burley will have money to spend next season. However, like Burley he has said that Town will not be turning their backs on the principles which have served them so well over the last few years.

The Town chairman said: "There will be money available, but we don't want to destroy all of the hard work that's already gone in just for the sake of a run in Europe. We've already proved that you can be successful without spending huge sums of money. This season has been built on teamwork and spirit and we'll never lose that. Few people thought we could compete against the best in the Premiership, so there's no reason why we can't surprise a few in Europe."

The Town chairman also backed George Burley for Manager of the Year: "George should be Manager of the Year and I can't think of a more deserving case when you consider not only what he's done this season but also in the last five years. He's a fantastic coach, particularly of young players, a great judge of players in the transfer market. But the great thing with George is that he still won't be satisfied and will want to improve and build for next season. We've had a wonderful season, we budgeted to finish 17th and aimed to finish 11th so to sit in third place with three games to go - what a fantastic season."

Town's two reserve matches at Portman Road next week will both be played at 3pm. Town play Charlton (Wed) and Forest (Fri) as the reserve season draws to a close. Only a re-arranged game with Arsenal follows these two, away on May 16th.
