Dyer Commits to Newcastle
Dyer Commits to Newcastle

Former Town midfielder Kieron Dyer has committed his future to Newcastle as speculation grows that his future may lie at Manchester United or Leeds. The story was given further creedence yesterday when neither Manchester United or Newcastle refuted a report in the Newcastle papers suggesting a £15 million offer had been made.

A previous rumour had suggested Leeds had offered £11 million for Dyer, but neither offer has been accepted. Dyer said: "I am staying at Newcastle and that's all there is to it. As far as I'm concerned, any talk of a £15 million bid is ridiculous and nobody at the club knows anything about it. I'm flattered that my name keeps being linked other big clubs, but at the moment, all I'm concentrating on is getting fit. I won't go to the manager's door asking to leave St James' Park, and the club don't want me to leave. That's pretty conclusive - but I can't stop the speculation."

As he says he can't stop the speculation with a £20 million bid from United rumoured to be likely in the summer as United seek to strengthen their squad for next year's Champions' League. Newcastle could well be tempted by an offer of this size as they aren't really in a position to spend too much cash at the moment.

We don't reckon we've heard the last of this and fully expect to see Kieron in a different shirt next season.
