Garvan in Irish U21 Squad for European Qualifiers

Midfielder Owen Garvan has been named in the Republic of Ireland U21 squad for their final European Championship qualifying games against Bulgaria and Portugal. Garvan, who pulled out of the recent friendly in Austria due to illness, has previously won four U21 caps.

The Irish youngsters take on Bulgaria in Sofia on September 5th and then Portugal in Madeira on September 9th. Ireland can no longer qualify for the European Championship.

Republic of Ireland U21s: Stephen Henderson - Bristol City, Shane Redmond - Nottingham Forest, Seamus Coleman - Sligo Rovers, Eddie Nolan - Blackburn Rovers, Darren Dennehy - Cardiff City, Simon Madden - Shamrock Rovers, Ian Bermingham - UCD, Michael Spillane - Norwich City, James McCarthy - Hamilton Academical, Michael Liddle - Sunderland, Stephen Gleeson – Stockport County, Jimmy Ryan - Accrington Stanley, Owen Garvan - Ipswich Town, James Berrett - Huddersfield Town, Keith Treacy - Blackburn Rovers, Alan Judge - Blackburn Rovers, Sean Scannell - Crystal Palace, Cillian Sheridan – Celtic.
