Jim: I Was Too Harsh on Players

Boss Jim Magilton has conceded that he may have been too harsh in some of his players when commenting on last week's 2-0 defeat to Wolves. The Town manager was particularly scathing about Danny Haynes's display having replaced Liam Trotter in the side.

Magilton told the club site: "I was very critical of my players after the Wolves game, maybe I was too harsh.

"It's an emotional game and I was speaking out after what was a disappointing performance, but the players were as disappointed as anyone else and they reacted very well against Colchester.

"We played some bright football against a determined Colchester side and now we have to look to take that on against Watford.

"It will be a difficult game against a club that you would expect to be among the promotion contenders. They are missing Grzegorz Rasiak, which is disappointing for them, but they have quality players throughout their side.”

Further to the Carling Cup draw story, Town's most recent appearance in the third round draw was in the 2001/02 season as stated, although the Blues appeared in round four in 2002/03, where they lost on penalties to Liverpool, having been given a bye through the first three rounds.
