Kachloul Keen on Move to Town
Kachloul Keen on Move to Town
Tuesday, 1st May 2001 13:45

Hassan Kachloul, the man who has twice refused to join Town in the last year, is now praising the Blues. The Southampton midfielder is out of contract at the Dell and with Hoddle gone and no new man yet in place could well be on his way. Could he have changed his mind about Town?

Kachloul, who has also been linked with moves to Spurs, Coventry and Chelsea said: "It doesn't bother me what part of the country I play in, I just want to be part of a successful team. You can't argue with Ipswich's success this season. I think they are great. They are so high up because they deserve it. They impress on the pitch and have a great set of fans."

Clearly our 3-0 win at the Dell impressed him as did the Town fans' vocal input on the night. Last summer Town agreed a £2 million fee with Southampton for the Moroccan, but he decided to stay at the Dell.

Then in January Town renewed their interest, but again it came to nothing while at Southampton their chairman Rupert Lowe was telling the press that Kachloul was after £25,000 a week from any new contract with them. Town would certainly not pay him anything like that, but with George Burley still to fill that attacking midfielder berth he has searched long and hard to find the man for a new deal may well be in the offing.
