Balkestein a Doubt for Charlton Trip

Central defender Pim Balkestein is a doubt for Saturday's trip to Charlton due to the groin injury which has kept him out of the last two matches. Meanwhile, Ben Thatcher is making progress after tearing a thigh muscle.

Physio Matt Byard told the club site that the former Heerenveen man will be assessed on Friday: "We will have a look at Pim but at the moment he is doubtful for the Charlton game.

"Ben was rescanned this week and there is good evidence of healing occurring. He is making encouraging progress and we are very happy with what we have seen in his recovery, but it's too early to start predicting when he might be back."

Thatcher is due to be out of action for another five weeks after picking up the injury in the Carling Cup tie against Wigan.
