Sir Bobby Robson was inducted into The National Football Museum's European Hall of Fame at a gala evening in Liverpool last night. The legendary Town boss didn't attend with former England winger John Barnes accepting his award.

The selection panel chose five players and five managers on the basis of their achievements in European competition.

George Best, John Charles, Sir Bobby Charlton, Kenny Dalglish and Kevin Keegan were the chosen players, while Sir Bobby, Sir Matt Busby, Brian Clough, Bob Paisley and Sir Alex Ferguson the managers.

UEFA president Michel Platini also received an award for his achievements in European football.

The evening was the Preston-based National Football Museum's contribution to Liverpool Capital of Culture 08.

Town's UEFA Cup-winning boss was inducted into the domestic Hall of Fame in 2003, while Sir Alf Ramsey received the honour a year earlier.
