Ipswich Town: On This Day Winners and Answers
Monday, 24th Nov 2008 10:13

Last week TWTD ran a number of competitions relating to Dan Botten's new book Ipswich Town: On This Day. Here are the answers to the questions and the names of the winners as well as an opportunity to buy the book.

Ipswich Town: On This Day, which we reckon is an ideal stocking filler for Town fans everywhere, charts, on a day-by-day basis, the major events in the club's history. It includes individual entries for every day of the year, plus multiple listings for busier times, as promotions, relegations, sensational signings, important matches and unique trivia are covered.

Last week we ran an extract from the book each day and offered a copy of the book to a lucky reader who answered a question correctly and was selected randomly. Here are the answers to those questions.

November 17th

Town have won twice at Anfield since 1954.

November 18th

The travelling Canadian/American tourist team which faced the Blues in 1891 was paid the princely sum of £20.

November 19th

Danny Haynes replaced Billy Clarke in the 2006 Portman Road derby in which he scored two late goals.

November 20th

Scott Duncan was the Town manager who signed Bill Jennings, scorer of 41 goals in 102 appearances for the Blues.

November 21st

Dutch midfield maestro Frans Thijssen's other English club was Nottingham Forest.

The winners of the competitions were Karen Wright, Marcus Mansukhani, Harold Pinkney, John Pearson and Scott Burley.

You can buy Ipswich Town: On This Day at the bargain price of £6.99 via TWTD here.

Other Town books available this Christmas include Mel Henderson's Match of My Life, featuring the likes of Jim Magilton, Mick Mills, Ray Crawford, Roger Osborne, Kevin Beattie, John Wark, Allan Hunter, Bryan Hamilton, Trevor Whymark and Alan Brazil, which you can get here for £11.89, while copies of Mel's 1978 FA Cup Story signed by Roger Osborne are also still available via TWTD.
