Liam Trotter and Grimsby remain third from bottom of League Two after a 1-0 defeat at Macclesfield on Saturday afternoon. Trotter was playing the first game of his third month on loan with the Mariners.

Elsewhere, Matt Richards and Brighton lost 2-0 at Stockport, while Dan Harding was yellow-carded as Southend drew 0-0 at Cheltenham.

Left-back Kurt Robinson was left out of Northampton's 16 for their 2-1 defeat at home to Colchester, while Chris Casement was once again omitted from the Hamilton 18 as they beat Kilmarnock 1-0.

On Friday, Dean Bowditch wasn't involved for Brentford as they lost their FA Cup second round tie at Barrow 2-1. Despite Town giving permission for the on-loan frontman to play in the competition, the Bees failed to register the Town striker in time for the Friday evening match.

Earlier in the week, Billy Clarke was back in action with Darlington after his hamstring injury. The Irishman failed to get on the scoresheet in a 2-1 home defeat to Chester.
