New Town signing Luciano Civelli says he is aiming to play Premier League football with the Blues. The Argentinian signed a contract until 2012 yesterday, Town having agreed a £1.1 million deal with Banfield last week.

The 22-year-old told the club site: "I first found out in August that scouts were watching me. Banfield were not keen for me to leave, though, and it has taken a while for things to happen.

"But I have worked hard at my game so that I could play in one of the top leagues in Europe, Italy, Spain or in England. I'm very happy that it is England and at Ipswich Town.

"When I knew that the club were interested in me, I went on the Internet to find out all about the history of Ipswich. I went to the official website to find information on the players here, what the stadium is like, the facilities - everything I could about Ipswich.

"The facilities are very good here, they are the same as some of the big clubs in Argentina, like Boca Juniors and River Plate. I am very impressed with the training ground and the stadium, they are top class.

"I watched English football at home and it's my dream to play in the Premier League with Ipswich.

"I am a fan of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, watching their style and trying to learn from them, but my main position is on the left side.”

Civelli, who contrary to earlier reports does speak English, could make his Town debut on Saturday when Plymouth are at Portman Road, although he hasn't played a game for a while due to the winter break in Argentina. A place on the bench seems more likely than a starting role.

Last week, he left a training camp with Banfield to travel to the UK to complete his move.

Meanwhile, Irish U21 international defender Seamus Coleman has completed his move to Everton. Coleman, 20, was linked with Town, Celtic, West Ham and Birmingham in addition to the Toffeemen.
