Town Again Linked With Stockport Keeper

Town are again being linked with a move for Stockport County goalkeeper Owain Fôn Williams. According to one of this morning's tabloids, the Blues are said to be hopeful of signing the Welsh U21 international in the close season.

Williams joined County from Crewe last summer have failed to make a senior appearance for the Railwaymen. The 22-year-old, who has two years left on his contract with the cash-strapped Hatters, has been a regular for County this season and recently won his first calls into the senior squad, but is yet to win a full cap.

Over the weekend Williams was forced to pull out of the Welsh squad for Wednesday's game with Germany due to a shoulder problem and was replaced by former Blue Lewis Price, who is now at Derby County.

The 6ft 4in tall stopper has won 11 caps for the Welsh U21s as well as four at U19 level and one for their U17s.

Town could be on the look-out for another keeper in the summer with Shane Supple, currently on loan at Oldham for the rest of the season, out of contract. Supple is yet to be offered a deal and may feel he has a greater chance of first team football if he leaves Portman Road.

On Saturday, the Irish U21 international was watched by former Town keeper-coach Andy Rhodes, who is currently with Preston North End.

Town are also understood to have been keeping a close eye on Exeter stopper Paul Smith this season.
