Emerton Linked

Another day, another link. This time it is Feyenoord's Australian international midfielder Brett Emerton. Town are reported amongst a number of clubs to have watched the 22-year-old.

If Town are interested then they would have to break their transfer record with £6 million claimed to be his value. A bid from Liverpool is reported to already have been turned down.

The Australian has said that he would ideally like to play for Manchester United in the Premiership: "Unless there is something very special coming up I will stay at Feyenoord."

Other clubs linked include Middlesbrough, Leeds and Blackburn.

Long-term Town target Mark Kerr is now thought to favour a move to Leeds United. Kerr has had trial spells at both Portman Road and Elland Road and has said positive things about both. Both clubs asked the Falkirk player to return for second spells and at the end of the season he spent more time in Leeds.

The Scottish Division One Player of the Year seems to have been impressed by the welcome he received from the Leeds players: "It is unbelievable how they went out of their way to make my stay at Leeds a very pleasant experience. One minute I was playing at Brockville and the next I was sitting in the dressing room with these guys. The week I was there they beat Deportivo La Coruña 3-0 in the Champions' League and the place was buzzing."

Titus Bramble was in the starting line-up for the England U21s last night when they beat Mexico 3-0. Titus was replaced in the 71st minute with Chris Riggott of Derby. It was the Town defender's fifth U21 cap.

The goals came from Derby's Malcolm Christie, West Ham's Jermain Defoe and Coventry's Jay Bothroyd. Second half substitute Jermaine Pennant was the star of the show, as he was at Portman Road for Arsenal's youths in the recent semi-final.

The 2000/01 review video will be available from June 8th. The Road to Europe on Friday 8th June. Those placing a pre-order will get £5 discount on an Ipswich Town European T-shirt or European polo shirt from club shops. The video retails at £13.99.
