Derby goalscoring expert Alan Quinn was delighted to net Town's opener in Sunday's 3-2 victory over Norwich at Portman Road. Quinn is also the only player to have scored for both teams in the Sheffield derby.

The Republic of Ireland international said: "It was a great win. I don't score many goals so I was delighted to get that one.

"It was a great ball in from Pablo and a lovely touch from Gio so I was pleased to get there and finish.”

Quinn also felt the Portman Road support took it up a notch for the visit of their near neighbours: "The fans were brilliant - I just wish they were like that every week.

"The gaffer was under a bit of pressure but all week the training has been good and we have enjoyed it.

"The gaffer just said he would take the pressure and we should just enjoy the game and we did. It has been disappointing at home although our away from has been great.”

The midfielder felt referee Neil Swarbrick was right to give both penalties, Norwich's for his push on former Blue Alan Lee: "It was stupid. I don't know what I was thinking. I thought I could beat Big Al in the air but I didn't. Maybe the referee thought he would even it up with the penalty, but we hung on for the last couple of minutes.

"It was a definite penalty to me with Kevin and I thought the referee was going to send the keeper off. It looked a straight red card. I was happy he gave the penalty and it was a great take by Gio.”

Seven fans were arrested at Sunday's game and 13 ejected, the majority of the latter for smoking.

Meanwhile, one of Sunday's newspapers again linked Neil Warnock with a summer move to the Blues, a report the Crystal Palace manager denied when the story first appeared last week. The names of Alan Pardew and Alan Curbishley continue to be those circulating around the rumour mill most frequently, while former Watford boss Adie Boothroyd was apparently spotted at Sunday's game, although probably in relation to media work.

According to a Message Board poster, Town boss Jim Magilton was at Saturday's Lincoln-Exeter League Two clash. Previously, TWTD revealed that Grecians keeper Paul Jones had been watched by the Blues, while their midfielder Dean Moxey was also linked with Town before Christmas.

More recently, Town and a number of other Championship clubs were said to be eyeing Lincoln midfielder .
