Limerick board member Andrew Mawhinney has confirmed that his club are in talks with the Blues regarding a possible friendly on July 17th. Mawhinney says that the match may be part of a double-header to increase the attendance.

Mawhinney said: "I can confirm that Ipswich Town have offered Limerick Football Club a friendly on the Friday before they play Cork City, on the 17th July, and we're currently considering the viability of playing that game because the only place we can play it is at [Munster's rugby union ground] Thomond Park.

"So, we're talking to other clubs to turn it into a double-header to make it more attractive for soccer fans in the mid-west."

Town's also as-yet-unconfirmed game with Cork is pencilled in for Sunday, 19th July. The Blues are also in talks with Dundalk over a potential fixture, while a match at Finn Harps has been confirmed for Tuesday 7th July.
