Town have added Antonio Gomez to their backroom staff as fitness coach working alongside Simon Thadani who currently fulfils a similar role. Gomez was previously at Liverpool for two years and worked with manager Roy Keane at Sunderland.

He has has a degree in physical education from Leon University and an FTB Masters from Barcelona University.

The new appointment told the club site that he is looking to help Town back into the Premier League: "I'm delighted to have been given the opportunity to join such an ambitious club as Ipswich Town.

"I know Roy wants to take this club forward and win a place in the Premier League and I'm looking forward to playing my part in that challenge."

Manager Keane says Gomez is an important addition to his coaching staff: "I worked alongside Antonio at Sunderland and I know what qualities he can bring to this football club. He will be a valuable asset as part of our coaching staff and I'm delighted that he has agreed to join us."
